Tenure Track Position in Elementary Education
The Education Department at Covenant College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Elementary Reading/Language Arts with appointment beginning July 1, 2024.
Covenant College is an academically rigorous Christian college emphasizing the liberal arts in the Reformed and Presbyterian tradition. Located in the southern Appalachian mountains near Chattanooga, Tennessee, Covenant College is a four-year, residential liberal arts institution affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).
The candidate who fills this position will be an excellent and experienced teacher, dedicated to developing further as a Christian scholar, and enthusiastic about active participation in the college and larger community, along with a commitment to the historic
Reformed faith and the desire to teach consistently from that perspective.
The purpose of the Teacher Education Program at Covenant College is to prepare competent and compassionate teachers who practice their profession according to biblical guidelines in diverse educational settings. Candidates develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to become teachers who model life-long learning and faithful service to God as change-agents in society.
The Teacher Education Program at Covenant College is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and operation of undergraduate and graduate programs in Elementary Education and MAT. Faculty members work collaboratively to maintain the
rigor of the programs and foster community engagement to provide students with opportunities to have an impact in their communities while they are students.
The Teacher Education Program is seeking candidates who have experience in teaching and a thorough understanding of Elementary Reading/Language Arts content. Secondary expertise (coursework, certification, and experience) in special education is highly desirable. Candidates must have a master's degree or higher. Rank and compensation commensurate with experience.
